Plans for Wolfenoot Season
Hello my beloved pack!
Wolfenoot season is fast approaching! So I thought it was a good moment to give you some ideas of what we have up our sleeves for this year.
This will be the fourth Wolfenoot. We have tried a number of things over the years, some of which have been more successful than others. This year, what with all the waves her arms at everything in the world, we have decided to focus more on the kindness aspect of the holiday than the fund-raising aspect.
With that in mind, I will be posting kindness challenges on social media throughout the season, which you may participate in or not as you wish. Some will be small; some will be big. You choose your own level of participation. :)
Calendar
We tried to create a page-a-day Pets of Wolfenoot calendar, but it just didn’t fly. I think maybe at the moment, it is just a bit too ambitious a project. I will still be making a standard Wolfenoot calendar, and I still plan to go with the Pets of Wolfenoot concept, but 12 (13 with the cover) images are a lot easier to fill than 365. :) This will take the form of an auction early in the season, with proceeds, as always, going to charities.
The Book
We are running low on copies of The Wolfenoot Story, which may mean I need to do another print run. So I may do a special reprint sale in order to fund that.
Apart from these two things, though, the focus will be on putting more kindness into the world, rather than focusing on fundraising. I am personally feeling a little burnt out on that side of things, and would like to shift focus to something my heart loves a little more. :) I very much hope you will all come on that journey with me.
Back to the beginning
Wolfenoot happened because my then seven year old had been trying to tell me about this thing he’d thought of, and I’d been busy with, you know, all the busyness of adulthood - laundry and work and cooking and etc. But he’s my kid, so I stopped, and I sat down and said, “Okay, tell me.” And I gave him my full attention. And then, when I’d listened, I went, “Huh. That’s actually a really cool idea.” And the rest is history.
With that in mind, here is your first challenge: I challenge you, this week, to take some time to listen to the stories of someone you don’t usually have time for - maybe a child, or an elderly relative; maybe someone at your job who always wants to tell you things about their life. Some people just really want someone to talk to. Talk half an hour, and give them your full attention. You may find something magical.
