Wolfenoot Season 2021
Wolfenoot season has arrived! The 27th September is the anniversary of the original post that started it all. Jax posts a cute story about her kid on Facebook, and accidentally changes their lives forever.
That was in 2018, and a lot has changed since then! We have run a couple of auctions, raised thousands of dollars for charities around the world, written a book, created calendars and tshirts and other cool stuff.
This year though, with everything that is going on in the world, I really want to focus the energy of Wolfenoot onto the idea of kindness and compassion.
With that in mind, over the course of Wolfenoot season this year, I am going to posting a series of challenges for you to complete, if you choose. They will all be based in the idea of kindness and compassion, and my hope is that together we can create a bit of light in a world which sometimes feels dark.
Humans have such great potential for beauty and good - let’s harness that together, and make something wonderful happen.
Here is your first challenge.
This whole thing started with a child. Children have such great ideas and such cool ways of looking at the world. I am biased of course - I have worked with children in one way or another most of my life, and I often prefer kids to adults, if I am honest. But children also respond to the grownups around them. Usually the thing they want most is to just spend time with you.
My challenge is this: Spend some time with a child in your world. It can be your own child, or a niece or nephew, or your best friend’s kid. Just hang out. Read a story together. Have a dolls’ tea-party. Go hunting for cool rocks. Focus on the things the kid loves and go along for the ride. Set aside your inclination to teach and correct and just let the child be themself with you. Have a seven year old adventure or a three year old conversation. Reawaken your own inner child.
You don’t have to do anything more than do it, but if you’d like to tell me about it, I would love to hear about it. You can post about it on social media with the hashtag #wolfenoot2021 - rest assured I will be snooping that hashtag in all the usual places. ;)
